ABC of Blogging for Beginners

AB C of Blogging for Beginners.

Nowadays every business has a blog but what exactly is it?

The Wikipedia definition is

“It is a method of reaching a large audience instantly and it is highly favoured by Google Search Engines.” (A topic for another day!)

It is basically FREE advertising and can be written, graphics or videos.

Is it essential to have a blog?

Well yes and no.

It is not compulsory as there are other methods of attracting customers to you and your products. However, Google ranks blogs on their pages.

What does this mean for you?

It means that when people are “GOOGLING” or searching for information, topics, products etc. your blog remains there for all to find.

Have you got this? OK Let’s get going.

How do I decide what to write about?’

Ask your self these questions:

· Who am I and why should anyone want to read your blog?

What are the benefits for them not YOU?

· What am I passionate about?

There is no point in writing about something for the sake of it if it does not interest you. You need your passion and enthusiasm to shine through to reach your readers.

· Who is your target market? Where are they? How old are they?

This is probably one of the most important tasks in hand before you begin to write. Skip this at your peril.

For example if your target market is teenagers your style or writing and products will be very different from targeting a niche market of baby boomers.

· What are they looking for? -----

knitting needles or the latest sports attire.

· What is the purpose of your blog?

Is this a business or a hobby?

Have you a creative skill like photography that you wish to share for pleasure or are you a professional photographer who needs to market his skills?

· What would you like to achieve as an end result?

Do you need to build a list of targeted traffic who wishes to purchase your products?

Are there sufficient people who looking for your product?

Do the research FIRST. There are many tools available to help you with this.

Don’t try and re- invent the wheel at this early stage. If you do your research thoroughly and find there is little or no market for your product then look for a different market.

I NEED a HEADLINE




I Need a Headline

Persistence, Patience, Passion, Desire.

These things have been talked about many times by many people in relation to success.

First I ask WHOSE success? And what does it mean to YOU personally?

So how do we achieve our own personal success?

Let’s take a look at how some of our sports people are achieving their success’s in the current Olympic Games.

Michael Phelps now has 8 gold medals the Spanish call him the TIBURON –shark because of the way he swims. The papers castigated him a couple of weeks ago because at that time he only had 5 gold medals.

So ask yourself WHAT DOES IT TAKE for an individual to be so focussed to achieve this success. Just to have qualified for the games is SUCCESS for some of the sports people.

PERSISTENCE, PATIENCE, PASSION AND DESIRE plus of course some natural talent. We all have natural talents if we stop and look.

Rafael Nadal goes from strength to strength. I’m not a tennis expert but you have to admire this young man’s tenacity. Wimbledon kept escaping his grasp but did he give up? NO and this year victory and success were his. I watched hi m last weekend when he became the world’s number 1 tennis player. The shear look of determination and exhilaration on his face said it all.


PERSISTENCE, PATIENCE, PASSION AND DESIRE.

At the other end of the spectrum I was watching a 4 year old with his skateboard on the promenade. He had balance, could crouch down and even balance on one leg but he could not jump over the obstacle with his skateboard.

Each time he moved further away from the hurdle thinking this would help him but as he approached the hurdle he would slow down and end up perched on top of it.

Finally, he stopped and took stock. He placed his board on top of the hurdle and manipulated to see what it was doing and what had to happen to succeed in jumping over it. He realised he needed more velocity not less.

This situation continued for over half and hour. He did not look right or left he was focussed. Except one time a teenager caught his eye.skateboarding, performing various acrobatic feats. and then looked away. Maybe he thought “That’s not my current challenge”.

He returned to his challenge and finally he jumped the hurdle although not with ease. There was no ego involved. He did not look around for praise hehad his own success. What lessons had this little child learnt through PLAY!! ?
